"Localization" in Chinese

The English term "localization" doesn't have a single equivalent in Chinese, but many corresponding terms depending on the context.

Localization is the process of adapting the text and applications of a product or service to enable its acceptability for a particular cultural or linguistic locale.

Following are some of the different terms for "localization" in Chinese describing how they are used outside the localization industry:

本土化	with reference to the culture of a place, especially within an ideological or political context
當地化	with reference to the customs of a place
本地化	China's equivalent for Taiwan's 本土化
地方化	China's equivalent for Taiwan's 當地化
區域化	with reference to a physical locale or region with geographical boundaries
地區化	with reference to a physical locale with administrative boundaries
