Globalization

The word "globalization" is used differently in dfferent contexts

In international policy and economics, globalization describes the transition from national markets to a unified global market. The process involves trade organizations like the WTO, trade agreements and international law. A global economy necessitates adjustment by local economies and debatably impacts human welfare and the local environments.

For businesses, globalization describes an organization's movement into foreign markets. The business must adapt its processes and products or services to the domain of their new customers.

More specifically, globalization may describe the adaptation of software or web sites to allow a business to function across different locales or language or cultural domains. This process involves market knowledge, linguistic and cultural skills as well as engineering.
