Business Management Achievements

Pristine One of the founders of Pristine Communications. Built the enterprise into one of the best known and respected localization and multilingual web development businesses in Asia. Led the company from traditionally non-computerized business into digital documentation and implemented technology to enable telecommuting for both clients and freelancers before the Internet came to Taiwan.
PIG Launched one of Taiwan's first commercial ISP's to enable Pristine's communications services over the Internet. Founded Pristine Internet Gateway, in 1995, which provided Internet access, web design and hosting services in the greater Taipei area.
AsiaOnline In May of 1996, Pristine Internet Gateway was acquired by Asia Communications Global (ACG). The Internet company was relaunched as Asia Online in the Taiwan market. Took on responsibility of growing the operation to a staff of 40 in 18 months. Chief areas of contribution included focus on top-quality service, real-time billing system, procurement, staff hiring, network planning and management, systems integration, and cost performance analysis and financial reporting. Integrated customer service, technical support and networking systems, thereby creating an efficient and full-service Internet company.

Business Intelligence Consulting

Primary consultant enabling a 100 million USD listed health supplement manufacturer and marketer's entry into the Taiwan market. Worked with top management at US headquarters. Qualified and selected a banking partner to integrate e-commerce system requirements, helped source management staff, led local market analysis and competitor practice survey. The Taiwan entity achieved .8M USD in sales in their first three quarters of operations.
Planned and managed the localization of a language teaching artificial intelligence agent into thirteen languages for Asia's largest e-learning corporation.
Business Intelligence consulting, virtual sales, local market considerations for a local foreign-owned and managed virtual advertising start-up.
Taught data-mining course to research staff of a pioneering consumer data company. Performed background research on competitors, supported management in brokering a 5M USD project with a new service partner.

Internet Technology Projects

Fitch Project lead for developing the Fitch Ratings Taiwan portal site
DOIS Responsible for technology strategy and planning for the Invest in Taiwan portal site, a project conducted by Pristine on behalf of Taiwan's Department of Investment Services, Ministry of Economic Affairs (formerly known as Industrial Development and Investment Center).
FFTC Designed and led implementation of this international NGO site to make available over 30 years of agricultural publications on the Internet. Provided client consultation and planning; designed database, cross-referenced information architecture & interface design. Oversaw client training and web application development, data processing, systems administration. Implemented content publishing (for ongoing content) and management system, threaded discussion, data search interface, installed and configured host server. Content of completed site is entirely managed and maintained by the client.
WCIT Led a team to develop the conference site for the year 2000 Global information technology conference hosted in Taiwan. The site's information architecture enables dynamically created web content to be automatically served up in the appropriate language -- English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and French -- by detecting the language of the viewer's computer system. Provided project consulting, information architecture & interface design, systems configuration & Administration. Designed web-based news management and publishing system allowing permissions-based editorial control for adding, editing, or deleting articles online, prioritizing headlines or whole articles for display on different sections of the site, composing and distributing an online HTML newsletter, requesting translations and editorial team update notification. This interface allowed the conference organizer, their public relations firm and the localization supplier to work efficiently on-line in real time.
Pristine Lexicon Designed and led development of on-line tools to support Pristine's localization project managers and freelance translators. This originally in-house system quickly became one of the more popular Chinese/English/Pinyin dictionary sites on the Internet. The site is currently a semi-finalist for the Asian Internet Awards in the category of cross-cultural sites.

Advocacy and Consulting

Member of the American Chamber in Taipei since 1992. Chairman of Independent Business committee through 1997. Took on work permit regulations for foreigners. Authored white paper for Internet market pricing rationalization. Served on Board. Organized several meetings for the Information Technology Committee. Chair of Technology Committee. Have represented the American business community in Taiwan to city, national and cabinet level meetings with the Taiwan government, visiting US congressional delegations and other international investor and trade delegations. Have organized and realized numerous meetings over the years bringing together leaders from business, government and academia to discuss a wide range of issues involving emerging technology.
Board and international communications officer of IFPEOC working with the Wa aborigines of NE Myanmar. Facilitated communications between Wa leadership and the United Nations DCP; led mission to visit India's national science research council.
Founding and board member of Taiwan's Indigenous Cultural Enterprise Development Association. Organized and led a group of 25 representatives of all of Taiwan's tribes to the US in 2004 to attend international conference and meet with government and tribal leaders.
